Dennis Alan Allred ’66 was born on July 21, 1944 in Melrose Park, Illinois. He attended West Leyden High School in Northlake, Illinois, and Castro Valley High School in Castro Valley, California. At Yale, he was a member of Saybrook College, the Yale Political Union, Dwight Hall, and the Pi Sigma Alpha fraternity. He also belonged to More House, the Catholic student center, where he coordinated the St. Mary’s High School Tutoring Project. He received his BA in political science in 1966 and went on to receive the degree of master of public administration from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University in 1968.
He went to work for the U.S. State Department’s Information Agency, which took him to posts in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Santiago, Chile. He moved to Chicago in 1973 before heading to California, where he taught history, U.S. government, and economics.
He died on February 23, 1990.
