Timothy Egan Lenahan was born in Bryn Mawr, PA on July 1, 1958. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Yale (B.A. 1980, M.Arch. 1984). Lenahan’s studies focused largely on the relationship between architecture and its surrounding landscape.
Following graduation, Lenahan moved to Greenwich Village, where he lived and worked as an architect. During his career, he designed projects including the Kol Israel Synagogue in Brooklyn and the Ohrstrom Library at St. Paul’s School. Lenahan worked with Robert A.M. Stern from 1984 to 1989.
He died on September 7, 1992 at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in Manhattan at age 34. Two years after his death, the Timothy Egan Lenahan Memorial Fund was established to support the teaching of landscape and architectural design.
