Enno Poersch ’72 was born Nov 22, 1944 in Portland, OR. Following his graduation from Yale, Poersch pursued careers in set and graphic design for stage and film. He was one of a small group of homosexual men in Manhattan who formed the Gay Men’s Health Crisis in the winter of 1981, a collective aimed at exploring the origins of AIDS while providing support services for individuals affected by the virus. A key fundraiser for the organization, Poersch served as GMHC’s director for three years. He died on May 6, 1990.
He was 45 years old.

A poster designed by Enno Poersch for the 1983 GMHC’s 2nd AIDS Benefit at Madison Square Garden.
Held on April 30, 1983, the event marked the first major fund-raising event for AIDS – a benefit performance of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
